This one managed to go back to the classic series formula, except for the track design (which still seems pretty good).Feel the thrill of the chase and the rush of escape in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered on PC. Suddenly it just became, City #13, Highway #23, rather than the freaking Himalayas with a Tibetan Temple. Even had a Hot Wheels like course in one of them too. Driving down a desert highway at night, then going off road into some ancient buried ruins, or travelling through a massive underwater tunnel and seeing the ocean just outside. I always loved the mixture of realism with fantasy with most of the old games. That's another disappointment with the progression of the series, the track designs. NFS was like grown up Hot Wheels cars, but awesome. When Underground came out and I saw they actually had actors and a freaking plotline (no matter how simple) I couldn't believe it.

After Hot Pursuit 2, I think that was when the franchise lost its way in starting to emulate other racing games. Just the pure bliss of choosing a favorite ride and jumping right into a race or cop chase is all it ever needed. I always enjoyed the simplicity of NFS compared to simulation racers like GT (which is also amazing).
